B.Richardson 58 134 Annual Account. M 12 Fern River Canyon 10,500 ft. Petaluma Co., California. From the 3o traps Mr. Dixon set last night, along the stream and in the rocks near camp, there was no catch. Six or more had been sprung apparently by the Pine Marten. Today's hike was up Whiston Creek following the climbed trail to the edge of timber and then shooting off to the south side of the creek. We followed round the little slope and on to the shoulder at the east base of Whiston Mt alt 12,700. From this point we started toward camp making a circle to the north side of the canyon and joining the trail just below the first lake on the creek. The territory as a whole is much the same as the country about Lake South America
