General Account Junction Meadow, Kern Canyon. Tulan Co., California. 8180 ft. From the traps the morning I got one Peromyscus maniculatus and from the 20 traps on the hill and two Peromyscus maniculatus and one Microtus from the 10 traps set in the meadow. The day was spent in and about camp skinning and general “speddling” around. I found a Hair Woodpecker nest in a dead Ledge-pod Pine in the meadow. The hole was about 20 ft off the ground. From the squeaks within and the actions of both the birds I judge that there are young birds. The weather was clear during the morning but in the afternoon it clouded over and grew cold. Some rain fell and several shrinks of hail and snow. Mr. Dixon shot a White-throated Swift and a Fox Sparrow north of camp.
