General Account
were seen and Mr Dixon secured
three more for specimens.
Mr. Dixon also saw and
verified my sight observation
of the Golden Mouthed
Ground Squirrel. During
the early morning the
Clark's Crows carried on
their activities high up
on the rocky slopes of
the canyon and later
coming down to the floor
of the canyon to feed.
Returned to camp for a late
lunch.
The afternoon was
spent close to camp, skinning
animals and cooking. In the
late afternoon I went down
into the meadow. Found
a Red Shafted Flicker nest
in a large dead Poplar tree,
it contained young. Found
a garter snake 16 ft long
on the steep slope of the
tall west canyon wall.
It was rather inactive making
no strenuous attempts to get
out of reach.
