Poplar is thickly scatturd inbetwen with here and ther a yellow Pine. About on third of t he lake has been grown over with a stufy grass and here and ther are thick masses of water lillies. Th river opposite th lake is a sluggish stream while above and below are rapids. The lower rapids are quit abrupt consequently have caught many logs. This log jam has done a great deal in making the river into the extra sluggish stream that it is at this point. Most of my time today has been spent about camp strughtling and cleaning up. This morning I took a short walk between th lake and th river. Shot a Western Wood Pewee and a Mountain Chickadee This afternoon I set some traps all of which were set about camp so as to clean out th mice and rats that got into my grub last night. Later noturd a pair of Downy Woodpeckers feeding on the base of Poplar trees near camp. Shot th male bird.
