B. Richardson. 14 34 General Account. 25 Upper Funston Meadow, Kern Canyon Tulare Co., California. 6800ft. This morning I packed the mule and started on the trail at 9:15 A.M. for Upper Funston. The trail follows the west bank. The vegetation of willow grows and joins is dense along the stream side, but it thins down along the slopes of the canyon. The major portion of the canyon walls are abrupt garnet cliffs at the base of which are talus slopes. These impressive walls are broken in places letting such streams as Golden Trout Creek, Lomax Creek, and the Big Arroyo through. I arrived at Upper Funston at 1:30 covering a distance of 10 mi. The afternoon was spent in camp organizing and arranging our equipment. In the late afternoon we set 20 more traps; 1 gopher trap and 2 rat traps.
