B Richardson. 34 15 General Account we have had th other previous days being bright and sunny! Th rain lasted till about 5:00 PM at which tim we crossed th river by th old bridge, and began hunting for Chipmunks in among the Manzanita. We continued on up th trail toward th Tunnel Forge Station to th columnar basaltic formation on th left. This basalt post, similar to that of the Devil's Post Pill, an quit extensive extending from th trail for 500 yd around a bluff at Golden Trout Creek. On some of these columns are grotesques appearing Indian paintings. I continued my search for th ground dwelling chipmunks without results (Entemion merioni breweri.) Observed a pair of Desert Sparrows in the manzanita and hiding upon the rocky shy. Saw a f Sgron with a brood of young 4t+.
