D. Richardson 13 9 34 General Account 24 Kern Canyon Ranger Station Fulan Co, California. 64584. The first part of the morning was spent in looking over the county between the river, Contorno, and the Ranger station. This area is in the floor of the canyon. The vegetation is almost entirely Yellow Pine which seems to thrive in this sandy, loamy type of soil. There are several small streams in the vicinity exclusive of Coyot Creek that as well have grown by willows, and East of Contorno one stream spreads out forming a meadow. On this meadow numerous Beaver Black- birds were seen. On the opposite side of the river the conditions are quite different. The floor of the canyon on that side is covered almost
