the water in leaf litter and loose rocks. Some right in seepage. Several more Ensatina and several Behacherup were located near the creek. We left at 12:00 to go get lunch and go on. This is a Redwood forest region. The rocks are granite. We left Clear Creek and drove up to Marin Co. We stopped on Skyline near Pacifica to look for the San Francisco garter snakes. We also stopped in Marin Co on Las Gallinas Rd near a golf course: Here we found Ensatina but no Bute or Rana which we wanted. On May 1 out of Tamalpais Bay we stopped at Bay Ranch . 8 miles from Walker Creek. Here we asked a woman if we could hunt for toads. We stayed until nightfall but did not find any. We did find many slender salamanders and some Tree Frogs. We stopped at Bay Ranch because we saw a dead Bute on the road
