Ruth, Stephen 1971 20 Reptile collecting Trip Hwy 78 1/2 mi W Anza Borrego State Park San Diego Co, Calif. May 14 SBR 1447 In my hours of searching I captured 1 # 1448 Xantusia vigilis and 1 adult Crotaphytus collaris The Xantusia vigilis was under the dead leafy basal portion of a yucca. Yucca are numerous on this south facing slope and some are in bloom having a yellow inflorescence. The Crotaphytus collaris was atop a large 4' x 3' x 3' rock well up the slope. I attempted to noose the animal but it ran into a pile of small rocks from which I got it after some difficulty. RCS came back with a nice SBR 1449, 1450 Crotalus ruber, a Xantusia henshawi; and a RCSII284 Phyllodactylus xanti. He was 1451 also collecting the south facing slope. This area too has signs of extensive collecting - rocks rolled and slabs piled off the sides of large rocks.
