Ellicott Station off Buena Vista Road
Feb Santa Cruz Co. Calif
About 1 mile off Highway 1 on Buena
Vista Road R.L. Hopkins driving spotted
a single Hyla on the wet roadway.
I picked it up. It was quite cold. There
is a heavy fog. The windshield
washers are going most of the time.
Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar turnoff
Feb 1 off Hwy 1 Santa Cruz Co., Calif.
We came in the back way to Valencia
Lagoon at about 9:45. We spent
quite a bit looking around and left
at about 8:45. We found maybe
30 Hyla but no Ambystoma. ..
Many egg masses were found but
they were probably all Hyla.
The lagoon is quite large
but is probably no more than 2½ feet
deepest at its lowest point. Under
a 2x3 foot piece of wood on the
edge of the lagoon I found about
12 Hyla with.
