S.B. Rufo Journal 1970 8 Feb 10? Amphibian Collecting Trip 2 mi E jct on Bear Creek Rd, Santa Cruz Co, Calif. here on the advice of a young fisherman who said he had found newts here. We found no Taricha. I found a nice adult Ensatina under an oak log 3 feet long and four inches in diameter. An adult & Ensatina was found under a similar log about 25 yards away. A lot of bog here. RCS found two young Aneides flavipunctatus under an object on damp soil. Again conditions for Taricha seemed ideal but we didn't find any. 365.3 8.3 mi. W jct. Bear Creek Rd and Skyline on Bear Creek Rd, Santa Cruz Co, Calif. habitat much the same as previous stop. Searched for Aneides lugubris. RCS found
