channel Mr Langdon said
that much of this silting
previously gathered in
the bottom of the highway
drainage ditch that was
eliminated when the highway
was widened. Quarrying E.
of Robb Roy interchange is
contributing a considerable
amount of the silt.
Hydraulic engineers said
that one of the plans
considered for the area
was just to dam the pond-
diverting water into it - but
private ownership of part
of the area deterred them
in this plan. Had they known
of the salamander chances
are that they would not
have followed their present
plan.
