S. B. Ruth Journal March 21 3 mi. E. Burnt Ranch, Hwy 299, Trinity Co., ca water ran down a spill way type arrangement. All of the adult Ascaphus captured seem to be ♂'s while several of the immatures are ♀'s. I crossed the highway and made my way down the bank to where the Little Bidden creek empties into the Trinity River. I caught several more yellow legged frogs and one adult and one immature Ascaphus on this lower side of the creek. The Ascaphus are found right in the fine rock at the waters edge and in debris while the Rana are found on large wet rocks in or beside the creek. One was captured swimming in the current at the mouth of Little Bidden Creek. I packed the Rhyacotriton on Ice and we left about 3:45.
