5 Feb 107 Amphibian collecting trip
Hall Hollow, Hwy 49, Mariposa Co., Ca -
in color. I found an adult
Hydromantes under a stone
but it escaped as I
turned away to get my
thermometer. I dug and
dug but it got down into
the loose talus faster than
I could dig. Big sooty
millipedes 5-6" long present.
The Hydromantes RCS
found: 1-70' from stream
under rock in area where
rocks had accumulated
around the upper base of
a buckeye; 2'nd one
about 40' from the stream,
under a rock on top of a
small rock outcrop. Rocks
both about 1½" long, 8"
wide and 2" thick.
