Chilomysus sericus
21 March El Sombrero Trailer Park, La Paz, Baja California Sur,
80 for seven individuals have been found by
us on our trip to Baja, six here in Bed Papafuss'
study area (see journal of 18 March) and the first
one 9.3 mi W San Gregorio Parador on Mex. Hwy 1,
Baja Calif Norte, (17 Mar). All but one have had
dark dorsal bands with the light-colored scales
tinged lightly with orange; the ventor is cream-
colored. One individual found yesterday, however
showed much more darker orange color dorsally
and extending laterally into the flanks. Also, the
dorsal bands are marked by being not solid,
but variously broken into a network of brown and
orange. This pattern is more evident posteriorly,
with the anterior bands being solid brown, and
the posterior-most bands being mostly orange
dots surrounded by brown
