Schoonei's Lagoon Campground, No. Bank Albion R,
the Albion, Mendocino Co., Calif.
29 March the broad exposed river bed of the Winduck R.
Working the first 100 yds of the stream and banks
away from the road produced two P. elongatus under
rocks (one under a rock ~3' from water, the other
inside a rock face along the stream) one P. dunni
(inside a pile pocket of wet leaves at streamside),
and one Batrachoseps attenuatus (inside a rotten
log ~20' up from the stream. Time of observation
was 1100-1300 hrs. In an attempt to find
Aneides ferreus we drove further down 2.7 mi.
Locality 15 further along No. Bank Rd. to a point 0.2 mi W.
of the entrance to Winduck Campground. This
is the site of A. ferreus, well-covered shaded
douglas fir forest sloping down towards the river.
Pelting away bark from fallen and standing logs
and turning rocks and logs produced no A. ferreus,
but 5 P. elongatus were found beneath coarse bark
of one large fallen Douglas fir. One Ensatina
eschscholtzii was found beneath a piece of fallen
bark. Time of observation was 12:30-1330 hrs.
Returning to Hwy 101 S we entered California
and continued on to Klamath, Del Norte Co. to try to get a sample
of Batrachoseps attenuatus for Kaye Yanes.
Locality 16 Approx 3.5 mi W of Klamath we turned East 0.4 mi.
on Hunter Creek Rd. This area is heavily logged,
