10 Dec ~18 thorius and one Peud. The only hint that there
might be two species in our collection was a slight
variation in eyes among animals (see species account).
Returning to Svlachinia we waited for night fall
and visited Ted Pagefues' cave locality for T. aurata
D. in a corn field 0.8 km W of town. All this
is, in fact, this locality, the cave part off of the
sinkhole has been caved-in from the recent
earthquake as rocks and dirt cover the supposed
opening to the cave at the bottom of the sinkhole.
We did find another cave ~~~~ off the N side
of the road less than a 100 m. E of Ted's,
though. We examined it both in the morning and
at night but found the cave very dry, and no
salamanders present. The wet season is apparently
the best time to collect here.
