6 Dec outside from town. We checked four localities. The
first was relatively low at m and we found
no thorius. The three higher localities (see catalogue)
had thorius, apparently the very large species found
from Guerrero east to Suchiatepec in the Sierra
Madre del Sur. The habitat in general was the
typical pine-oak forest. The best collecting spots
were partially disturbed slopes with abundant
fallen logs. Thorius were occasionally found
under bark, but most abundantly inside
of fragments of fallen logs. Ten or twelve were
often taken together in the same crevice. On this day
We collected a total of ~85. On the other
hand, 5 Pseudoeurycea were found, most by
peeling bark of fallen logs, the others under
fallen logs. Although this is the dry season,
microhabitats were moist and the animals easier
to collect than in summer (wet season).
