Hotel Cruz, Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico
27 June We found only 6 Thorius; which is few considering
the abundant cover and time spent looking for
(~ 23 hours). Possibly they are more dispersed
in the wet season when there are more suitable
microhabitats (both yesterday and today, terrific
downpours occurred in the afternoon and early
evening). See sp. acc't for color notes.
Restaurant Almita, Lytlan de Guarey, Oaxaca,
Mexico
28 June Brad and I have stopped here for dinner
after driving from Oaxaca City. We were
late leaving this morning as we were
involved with picking up laundry, fixing a
flat tire, fixing a busted tail pipe, etc.
Our main concern was obtaining additional
T. fulvorianus from intermediate elevations
on C. San Felipe. We collected at the
locality visited by Doug and me two years
ago (14.2 mi. S. La Cumbre) and at a locality
between there and la Cumbre, and 300m
higher. At both places animals were hard
to find; 7 were taken in all including
several found in wet leaf litter. Apparently
the animals are not concentrated under cover
objects because of the wet weather. The
habitat doesn't strike one as good for them
