Hauken, James 1977 Journal Hotel Tela Inn, San José Prov.de Cartago, Costa Rica 10 Sept a few localities within 10 km S of Villa Mills, but without success. I returned to " " and waited-out the afternoon's rain at the hotel before returning to San José. I stopped at El Engaño to work the road out with a lantern but found no sals. Yesterday I drove to the peak of Chirripó along the main road out of Cartago in an attempt to get another sample of B. subpalmata. The slopes, however, are nearly completely devoid of forest to just above the gardens of the peak. I checked a few different areas above 3100 m where there is still oaks standing with abundant logs as cover but found nothing. I then returned to San José for quetzal.
