Hauken, James 1977 Journal Hotel la Georgina, Villa Mills, Prov. de Cartago, Costa Rica 14 Sept Creek. There is also several miles of nice, wet, drugging road cut along the road on either side of the river. The road to the volcano leaves within a km or two of the river crossing. It's inconspicuous aside from a pulperia at the junction, and one should ask for the Hacienda Palma when looking for the turnout, as the '' also has its entrance here. Within a km the road became untravelable in my Toyota sedan, but can be easily traveled in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle w/good clearance. I left my car and walked up a few km along the road (~1200 to ~300 m in elevation) when it passed the adjacent land was again cut for pasture land. However there was more cover available and I turned a good deal but found nothing. Several many road cuts, some quite tall & wet were injected and that way I found a snake and anole. After ~ 1 hour I turned around and returned to the car. I checked several road cuts (including the one by the river) back on the way down, and also returned last night with a lantern to check them again. No sols were found, but I did take a large. Eleutherodactylus preserved ~ 2" or so in a drugging wet road cut below a steep ditch spent a rather uncomfortable night in Turrialba
