Hotel Tela Inn San José, Prov. de San José Costa Rica
11 Sept The place looked like good habitat for at least
some large but none was found. I retraced
up the hillside for a ~ ½ mile and then
worked through a small clump of planted
pines. From here I descended through
a cleared field to the highway. Nothing
at this point nothing had been taken
and because of the constant rain I
returned to Turrialba and caught the
next bus to San José. The definite
high point was seeing a flock of oropendolas
at the base of the hillside by the stream,
and several Magpie jays.
12 Sept Another frustrating day today. My rental car
arrived at ~ 11:30 AM, and I left soon
after for a locality suggested to me by
Brad which lies N of the town of San Ramón
(W of San José on the Pan-Am Highway).
Supposedly O. edirina and Chiropteroctetes
are both found between the towns of Los
Angeles Norte & Sur which lie between
5-10 km (by road) N of San Ramón.
However, essentially no original forest
remains, with these being instead cow
pastures, corn fields, vegetable fields, or
cafetales. Little potential cover remains
