Hanken, James 1975 Journal Apparent: Harris Beach State Park, Curry Co., Oregon 27 March (Pinus contorta) forest at the edge of town Locality 1 on along Garrison Loop 0.2 mi. S of the junction with Paradise Point Rd. Curry Co. Rain runoff during the night gave an added opportunity to study fluid dynamics within our tube tent. The morning (26 March) I turned over a few of the several fallen or cut logs in our camp. Two Ensatina eschscholtzii were found within ~ 20 minutes. We then left Port Oxford and headed S on Hwy 101 to look for Plethodon elongatus. At the town of Oplin we headed took the road inland towards the Rogue River (the road is called Square Valley Rd near the Rogue R.). I worked one talus slope by the road ~2 mi. outside of Oplin without success. Locality 2 ~.5 mi. N of the Rogue R. (.7 mi. N of the junction of Square Valley Rd and N Bank Rd) I worked another seep unsuccessfully, and then descended down to the creek bordering the road and turned several rocks and logs at streamside. No Plethodon were found, but one ♂ Taricha granulosa was found in a small pool alongside the stream. Grand fir (Abies grandis) was dominant in the area; willow and other shrubby vegetation was common along the stream. Continuing on to the Rogue R.
