6 August (cont'd) via Acagüela and Atoyac. Thorius presumably
are found there as Adler has collected 3 new
salamanders, 2 Pseudot + 1 Bolitoglossa, and Howard
Freeman has spent time in the area.
Unfortunately I panicked about the fate of our
liquid nitrogen which was low on in Veracruz
and decided it was best to leave Guerrero with
the one sample which we had and not risk
losing all the others in the container. Hopefully
Ted will get a sample from Puerco del Callo
when he is in Teopan looking for Biges. We
spent ~1 hr. with Ted and Bob at Maria's
Bike Biper locality along the Rio Balsas
before continuing on to Veracruz. We stopped ~ 40
mi. N of Chilpancingo to try to capture a
Ctenosaurus which we saw from the road
but were unsuccessful. Doug, however,
did find a small gecko under a rock.
We went to Veracruz via Acaxtle and
Cuyuca de Matacotes, avoiding the mountains
around Mexico City as well as the city itself.
Arriving in Cuautitlan into evening to
collect one jar. We received 2 Xenosaurus
and one B. platydactyla which René
Grou collected for us around Miguel's house.
We paid for them and returned to Fortin
