26 July to Tecelo where Sam Sweet and Ted Boganfuss
have collected Thoinis in great numbers in
December + January several years ago. The
locality is just N of the town in a cafetal of
coffee + banana plants along the slopes of a
deep ravine. We spent over an hour here
and never found one Thoinis despite having
turned numerous rocks, logs, etc. I found
one more of the dark ring-necked snakes.
From Tecelo we returned to Fortín for the
night.

6 August Doug and I arrived here last night after
driving yesterday from Alpine, Texas, having
crossed the border from Mexico at Eagle Pass
the evening of 3 August. I haven't made any
journal entries since Fortín on 26 July,
and will here summarize the intervening days:
27 July: Doug and I drove from Cuatlapam
straight through to Chilpancingo, Guerrero. We
left most of our collecting gear and liquid
nitrogen containers w/ Miguel Acero, not wishing
to carry anything which might give the Federales
cause to give us grief in Guerrero.
