20 July Restaurant at El Machin & Poraca, Mexico
in an area of at the edge of the meadow where
the transmission lines pass through the forest.
Numerous fallen rotting logs were present
among the scrubby second growth as well as
adjacent forest. Doug worked the forested area
and found ~15 Thorius, all of the smaller species.
Walking the more exposed area I found at least
10-15 Thorius, at least 5 or 6 apparently the
larger species. In one instance one indiv. of both
species was found under the same bark on a
fallen log ~3 feet apart. Doug also collected
one Selaphorus. Next we worked locality #3 of
19 July, 13.5 mi. N Ocelotlan to see if we would
have greater luck working the exposed area beneath
transmission lines than the forest which we
worked on 19 July. We had better luck,
finding 8 Thorius in ~1/2 hour: two under logs,
two under bark of stumps, and four inside logs
beneath road
