species under logs above, and the larger species
under the log. The second locality was 29.8 mi.
N of Guelatao. Here we worked the cut &
brushed over low scrubby habitat under
transmission lines. Bracken ferns were most
abundant w/ vines beginning to colonize the
habitat. The area appeared generally
inhospitable except for our finding 8 Thorius
under the few logs and associated litter which
was present. They are all apparently of the
smaller species. We continued on to Molin
where we had a terrific meal of Spanish
rice, salsa de puerco, frijoles, tortillas, beer,
+ coffee, all for 33 pesos for two. After dinner
we worked the road banks along the dirt
road E out of Molin for salamanders
but saw none. The road bank was wet
in a few places but appeared in total too dry
to bring salamanders out.
20 July Doug and I continued working areas localities
along and near Mex. Hwy 175 between Guelatao
and Cerro Pelon. We first worked two localities
S of Llano de las Flores in an attempt to get
additional localities for the larger of the two
species at Llano de las Flores. The first was at
the S end of " " " " (15.5 mi N of Guelatao)
