and Suchiatepec where the car was given a
pretty rough going over. We slog through the
S of Michoacan. The road ascends into
pine-oak forest where it remains, essentially
above the 3000' level, at least as far as
Suchiatepec. We have stopped to collect at
two localities, ~3 and 9 mi N of Suchiatepec
where Thoris was found under logs. Many
of the fallen logs were charred and the
standing trees not quite mature suggesting
a fire some years back. Several Thoris
were found under these charred logs, or in
the litter and pine needles next to the
logs. Our return trip was pretty much through
a downpour making the road messy and at
one point we had to wait ~45 minutes
for a bulldozer to clear a particularly
muddy stretch. Meanwhile, Dave Wake and
Jim Lynch braved returned to the Sierra de
Cuartos Varados in the vicinity of San Vicente
Lachigio and collected a few Pseudoregaea
cociranae in addition to several Thoris.
Both Doug and my Thoris and those of Dave
and Jim seem to be pulmonaris.
