Hanken, James 1976 Journal 10 July Hotel Woreiga, La Luces, St. Hidalgo , Mexico an understory of low, almost prostrate shrubs. Some parts of the slopes showed evidence of logging while there were still trees standing, while other parts were almost bare. Doug and I found a total of 28 Chiroptera totorum presens here all on the ground under smallish logs or fallen limbs (6-10" in diameter). Few were found under rocks and only 1 or 2 under or inside big logs. We collected for ~1/2 hrs. Returning down the mountain we stopped to collect just before dawn at ~4100 ft elev. The vegetation was similar but with fewer logs to turn. We found 13 salts in ~1/2 hour. Continuing on back to the main highway S of Galeana we headed W a few miles and camped (slept in the car as it was pouring rain). One toad (B. punctatus?) was found on the road in the rain before we stopped to camp. On 8 July we continued S on Mex Hwy 57 to Mex Hwy 80 where we headed E towards Ciudad del Maiz. After stopping for gas and getting ripped-off by a faulty pump in town (a repeat of last year with the Creer's) we continued E out of town and visited the same oak forest which the Creer's, Sam Sweet, and I worked a year ago last May. This time it was wet, though,
