#2 11 February Today Brad and I worked several localities
on Cerro San Felipe, all along the logging roads
which leave from the main highway at La Cumbre.
#1 - 2.4 Km. from La Cumbre
- We worked this steep NE-facing slope covered
with short loosely arranged oaks for ~1 hour
with no success. Both the litter layer and
under fallen logs were quite dry, due no doubt
in some part to the strong winds which blew
across the hill from the N. Several branches
were pulled down, found to be wet, but with
no fungi.
#2 - logging camp 4 kms. from La Cumbre
This pine-oak forest was more sheltered from
wind than the last locality and logs were moist
inside and underneath. Several Thrinia were
found under bark and below wood chips
and pieces of sloppy split logs on the
ground. A few juvenile P. smithii were found in
a similar fashion, as were a few adults.
One adult P. smithii was found under a small,
relatively exposed rock.
#3 - 9.2 kms from La Cumbre
We worked this relatively sheltered
ravine with a stream surfacing where it
crosses the road, believing it to be the locality
