7-10 February These four days were spent working the area centered
about Cerro Pelon between Valle Nacional to the
N and Chitlan de Juarez to the S. Two nights were
spent camping on the mountains and another in a
rather sleazy hotel in Chitlan and we thus
had no opportunity for field notes or cataloging.
7-8 February were spent primarily on the N side
of Cerro Pelon, working forested areas on the
relatively less steep ridges and clear. Chiropterista
were taken in Bromeliads in several localities,
being quite
rather abundant. This was much less abundant,
being found only once or twice in Bromeliads (once
with a Singingtoiton) and only a bit more
commonly on the ground. At least two morphs
were readily distinguishable (see color notes).
The N slope contains cloud forest Dept
moist by winds from the N and we frequently worked
in heavy rain or fog. This proved fortunate
