stings under large fallen logs, and under leaf
litter especially in piles of wood chips. Three
small Pseudoeurycea were found with a generally
reddish ground color with grayish markings laterally.
They were found under bark often with Thorius.
We left this locality and visited the town of El
Berra (to the SE? - we have no compass). Then we
walked to a canyon ~1 km SE of El Berra which is
mostly cleared for agriculture with few clings of
pine-oak woodland remaining. The sun was
shining & the temperature warm and the ground
dry, and we expected no salamanders. However,
in this N facing steep canyon wall with remnants
of moist pine-oak forest we found 50 Thorius
distributed under logs, under bark on stumps, and
abundant in piles of wood shavings. Five
Pseudoeurycea were also found under bark,
four resembling those at the Texmola locality,
and one tiny one apparently P. lelli-like.
The Thorius are apparently two kinds as at
Texmola: one large, often black type with
big feet+limbs, and a smaller T. gennatulus-
like form. Plus 24 Bufo regular-like frogs were
found under logs on the exposed canyon
bottom, and eight sclopous of at least two
