21 February Yesterday Brad and I were accompanied by
Carlos Cron to two general and his nephew René
to two general localities located near the Puebla-
Veracruz border, Puerto del Aire and near Lagunas
San Bernardino. We had originally planned
to go to Xomilla, but three hours of rain the night
before last made it seem reasonable to wait
an extra day in the hopes that the road to
Xomilla would be dry. This rain was most
unexpected as we thought this was the dry season.
However, many working the areas in this general
vicinity so far indicate that rain is not common
but much moisture is contributed by fog drip.
The first locality visited was ~12am E of San Felipe
on the road to the short wave station (Micro Ondas).
Carlos stated that there is another road from
San Felipe towards Lagunas San Bernardino but
that neither John Wright nor Roy McDaimid
had ever gone on it (their locality info.
indicate that they went on the road to Lagunas)
In any event, when we reached San Felipe we
made a left turn at a small store or the left
onto the road to the Micro Ondas. San Felipe
is located at the dry edge of the plateau and,
