Hauken, James 1975 Journal Panama & Boquete area Hotel Panamonte, Boquete, Chiriqui Province, Chiriqui 18 August thing I was able to ascertain is that they journeyed near the Rio Caldera for a distance; I was unable to find out from what northern city in Chiriqui they left. Last night I took the road NW from Boquete to [illegible] Last night I went to the Quebrado El Velo - 5th & 4th km of Boquete where the road NW out of Boquete crosses the stream and the area which Jim Lynch and I worked for salamanders on 10 August. Here a trail passes from the river stream level up the NE canyon wall going through virgin forest to the coffee finca above on the level area above. Using a flashlight I was unable to locate any salamanders on leaves, twigs, or logs neither in the forest nor coffee finca. Returning to the road via the stream bed I collected one Andrias p. found inactive on a leaf i'above stream level at water's edge. at 1650 m. As the road into the area was muddy from the day's heavy rains I had to walk in and back about 1 mile each way. Time of observation was ~2½ hrs beginning at ~2 hrs. after sunset.
