Panama : Panama City -> Boquete, Perez.
Hotel Fundadores, Boquete, Chiriqui Province, Panama
15 August passes through a deep road cut in a disturbed
savannah-like area with cleared fields for
cattle grazing and scattered clusters of trees. The
snake was Masticophis-like with a long, slender
body ~5' long, smooth scales, but with a
definitely different head shape (the supratemporal
scales appearing almost to form a "shelf" over
each eye). The dorsum was dark green which
gradually lightened on the lower half of the first
scale row until near all but the lateral edges
of the ventral scutes were pale green. The snake
was found at ~ 4 PM and was not at all stiff or
deadly run over, i.e. appeared to have just
recently been hit.
Hotel Panamita, Boquete, Chiriqui Province, Panama

for salamanders in the Cerro Palo Alto area.
After crossing the bridge E from the Central Square
I took the river road N from Boquete, but turned
East at the first fork towards Buenos Aires. I was
able to drive than elevation of 1490 m before the
road was too difficult for my VW. From here I
walked on along the "jeep road" as it ascended
