1986 P.A. Good Nototriton praevor 1000m camp 11 April 4 collected in 10 forest along stream valleys. The first was collected by Craig under loose moss ca 15 m (1030m) off ground on a vertical tree trunk beside the river ca 1 km S of 1000 m camp along trail to 1500 m camp. This was collected in AM. In the PM, Craig + I walked back toward the site of this collection. Immediately across the stream below camp (960m elev), we found another under a thick layer of moss ca 3/4 m off ground on a fallen log. Two more were subsequently collected at the 1030 m site under loose moss, bromeliad + ferns on a vine overhanging a pool at the side of the river (ca 1m over water). These two were together (one large + 1 small). While I was concentrating on thick, wet moss on logs, trunks + rocks, Craig appeared to be concentrating on loose, drier moss on vertical trunks. It seemed to be having more luck + this may suggest something about microhabitat, although the small sample makes this anything but certain. We also looked in whatever bromeliads were accessible, but bromeliads seem to be less common along the streams than on the drier ridgetops. - Found nothing in these. 13 April The tiny specimen from 960m was found dead + was preserved today - it may have been injured when collected.
