Tom but he fired hurriedly, neglecting to consequently remember that he was shooting down hill, I over shot the big fellows. They rushed off with two shots of mine ticking clear at nearly 40 yds as they disappeared behind a rocky ledge. They might have intercepted them that horrified if they had been nearer and led me a merry chase with the bottoms of the ravine up the other side. The sheep were then just standing in an amphitheatre formed by inaccessible cliffs. I advocated going to the ridge above trying for a shot but the hunter scoffed at the idea. They said they would surely scent or hear us long before we could see them. We felt comfortable and prepared to wait on Tom this time joined us in a short while of fun but an hour we lay in the warm sunshine waiting for the sheep to compose themselves. Inside the fold which we had so rudely disturbed, it was delightfully warming to sit with the admit open gate and surround of ascending heath on which I could very little looking at both the steep to settle them again. 22.30-1.5 pm-gin at last we were prepared to leave.
