Suddenly four splendid antelope detached
themselves from the main herd and
started across the valley toward the
right we were in... when we saw that
they were really well started in our
direction we threw ourselves into the
long grass and dashed forward I cut
them off. Almost instantly the antelope
increased their speed and simply flew
up the hill slope.
I yelped a frantic 'valleto' to Yvette
and jerked with the reins on Kurrai Khan's
neck. He already saws the antelope and
when I gathern his head he flattegrd
out neck off like a bullet. I could
feel his great muscles working between
my knees but otherwise there seemed
hardly a motion of his body in the
long smooth reeds. Standing up in
my stirrups I watched for the leader
marked to Yvette who was putting her
distance as lightly as a
butterfly. Her hat was
gone, then hair streaming like a feather of
thick of feathers and wore in every
drag of his body and she was running
me a close second, hardly thirty feet
behind.
