36 No.26 Blue Whale, ♀ Feb. 2/12 Busan, Korea A light whale. Head and throat plain dark gray, except that on side of head a line of rather small or light gray mark- ings come forward half way between eye & ear - from that point there is a narrow band of light gray, many light gray markings on sides of body from gill arches forward to fins & on back opposite clear to dorsal ridge; in same places the light gray is in a large patches solid; much more light than dark color. The gray markings extend or thickly cover the sides of the peduncle almost to flukes but the ventral edge is unmarked. ♀ Fins Above plain dark gray, except on th ventral end where the white of the lower half of anterior edge runs up on upper surface & becomes gray. Below pure white. white bays my Parasites The entire body in a few places on the head, is covered with oval scars & deep oval pits, some partially healed, & others containing a sort of granular liriny which may be pulled out; I have seen the same thing in other Japan specimens.
