13 Baleen Bristles of posterior half dark gray those of anterior half yellowish-white. Throat There are three throat furrow's, an- of the 2 outer furrows angled as follows: its ant. ends are 81 fair 165-ant. 50' 130 32 anterior Between 165' down the posterior ends of 2 outer it is 50 cent Measurements of no.4 Length = 1170 Snout to eye straight = 222 .. .. blowhole (overcent) = 210 Fin tip & head beginning = 220 .. .. post. insertion = 145- .. greatest breadth = 99 Length of baleen raw (straight) = 198' no.5 Gray whale, Jan. 9 /12 three am, Korea A very dark whale. Entire forehead small dark slate or black, with a few light gray patches on the lower half; the upper half being plain save for a few large white cirrised scars. On the back & sides near the gries there are a few indistinct gray markings, but many bardeles. Rest of whale all block or dark slate. Mucous membrane in the roof of the mouth light pink as are the
