Finback (very young) No.38 ♀ July 6-08 Kygust B.C. This whale had not been blown up and consequently lay at its heavy end under water all night. This hauled out on a ship the next day the whale's belly was almost completely eaten away by sharks so that it was impossible to get color or external details of this part. Color Top of head left side dark slate edge of abdomen right side is light gray Back & upper sides to dorsal fin is dark slate - sides of pectoral from dorsal back flukes is lighter blue gray - other going backward from d. fin the blue gray comes fainter & further down toward median line but never gentle reaching it. Left rannae dark slate like head - Right rannae light blue gray as is right side throat - Central portion of body from chin to flukes white - the white gets narrower narrower in median line as it goes backward. The lower half of sides from fin to anus, white, insides of throat from corner of mouth back bottoms of furrows are dark & folds are blue white. Rest of furrows on breast & back are white like folds - Sets of pectorals have same
