194 Surphumblin' Skeletal measurements of specimen prepared by Mr S C Buck at Kygoost & now being exhibited by Mr Gls Langly & Co at Victoria. Date March 08 - Kygoost B. C. Length 79 ft. 6 in. to tip of lower jaw from notch over tooth. The following data Mr Buck gave me, as he prepared the skeleton most care- fully, it is undoubtedly correct. Ribs The specimen had 15 pairs left side & 16 right side - the 16th was very short & of course rudimentary. Vertebrae C7 D15 S15 Ca26 = 63 Mamms 4 metacarpals I4 II7 III6 IV3 ("Survey correct," Buck) The mamms of this whale were lost in a fire at the station as a pair from another whale were sub- stituted. This whale had the following formula in both pectorals. I4 II7 III6 IV4 ("Survey correct," Buck) The ribs of this whale were broken in one or two places so another set were substituted. This whale had 16 pairs & the last pair were long not being rudimentary.
