with white on all 1/2 count up -- 20 that summer June 16-08 Sechelt B.C. Today three whales were hauled in which I did not dissect or measure. They were all females, two old and one very young. The calf was 25-feet long and was still sucking as we found the milk glands well developed & full of milk in one of its femars. The calf was very fat it had thick blubber; its baleen had the bustles of the extreme bases of the plates dark grey & all the rest from ant. to post. pure white, without any grey showing whatever -- The excitement was audible that of the other whales -- it was a clear brown -- probably due to its diet of milk. The milk glands of the females lie along either side of the ventral line of its body, but are not parallel -- The anterior ends are much further apart than the posterior. The glands lie anterior entirely to there mammary slit going this slip at the posterior end. The anterior ends of the glands lie 74 out apart.
