Started off with both "Laurels" & "Smuggler" and tramped up through the swamps as far as Block i. when I met Bobt. Nesbitt with his pointer "Siren". On the beech knol we found a man trampin about for a body of guail which he had beaten down, and from which he had bagged them birds. Going to work with the dogs we Soon found some eight or nine of them which had run together out in the meadow and as they got up b4r "Siren", Rob. & I fired togther killing one of them. Following them into the corn we Started a number and made some miserably poor shooting at them, Bob getting only one bird. As we left the swamp at dusk, "Laurels" running on ahead came to a fine point in the open meadow and as I stepped by him a guail rose, which I shot, this birds making 3 bagged altogether, 'Saw a flock of S. magna & I started a Snipe Snail ? Saturday Nov. 11 Clear at sunris but clouded up soon afte and rained violently by night. The past week it has rained every day more or less, and in most cases more. The whole country is fair, soaked. Went off after breakfast letting "Laurels". Stride fast for the Block i bay but could not find tem & drove him on the hill & them also was unsuccessful. Saw a small flock of Anthus hodovie on the meadow also a Colluris boralis
