June 20 - 1874 In P.M. drove up to the "Warren Gun" with Bartlett taking Shot but no guns. In the upper corn started a pair of coo's the ? of which went through the performance of beating her wings on the ground &c. So that I judged she must have young in the vicinity but we were unable to find them. Shot Schand remarkably well making six or seven points on the old birds which he chased about for some time. Saw two broods of Carduelis fuscescens & one of Poecile gramm. Both able to fly well. Many Robins (S. migr.) have been out about a week. Visited 2 nests of Fly. Indicus & Dorbeed found a week ago but both were empty. June 23 Clear and very warm. Started off in my buggy at 9 A.M. to visit two or three nests. The first a Seth.
