June 13 Clear but cool. After spending th A.M. in stuffing a Saw-whet v E D. Bros. Shot yesterday, I started off immediately after dinner v drove up to owl's nest. I startled both birds from trees over the nest v shot the & without difficulty as he flipped lazily off through the pines within 15 yds of me but this 2 gave me a long chase v was quite as shy
