1873.
Nov. 21 Clear & fine. In A. M. drove up to the
willows where I shot at a B. hircutus but
missed him. On th. way home blew Belmont
drove in to a very fine Archibates (Agopus)
& fired a pin cartridge at five cozds.
& missed clear.
" 22 In A. M. drove over to Mr J. Smith's
& spent the forenoon (ie looking over
his stock of birds). He took 5 Red Virecious
(last spring) but ciders it ran, took
a Sterna copica at Boors head Hampton.
This summer (Aug or Sept) also Sola pringipis;
At Brooklin last spring he found My.
Orinatus quite common in brick marshes!
Shot (9 times & could have taken more; they
remained all summer. He has also
taken thus 2 Icteria viridis; has seen
Cardinal's virgin. (a cage bird honors
he thinks). In the Spring of 1872 he
found D. castanea very common
& in 1873 D. blackburnian.
On the way over I find at a Buto
birds & a crow but missed both.
Nov. 25 Light Snow. Saw three or four large
flocks of Turdus only; they have been
present all the autumn. Mrs Belmont
saw a grail cross the road & trying
my horn took "Shot." I started the
party (only 3) & pulled both bears
or than killing with the & and a
fine cock.
" 26 Took my usual drive & saw Hharks & find at B.hint
" 27 Saw bir Zera albicollis in our garden
" 28 took a ride & find 5 Turd. at hawkly, seeing two Archibates Agopus
" 29 " " " saw an Archibates or book unclear.
