January 08, 1947
I found a flock of about seven-five pigeons and got a number of feathers from two of my birds. I had them killed. I was very sorry to see them die.
In the evening we went to the barn and ate dinner at the table where we had our meals. We were very tired after the day's work.
The next morning, January 9th, we started up on "the hill" with Stone. We found a large number of pigeons on the hillside and killed several of them. They were very fat and plump.
We continued our search for pigeons throughout the day and evening. We found many more birds in different locations. Some were young, some old, but all seemed healthy and strong.
By late afternoon, we had collected quite a few feathers from various parts of the hillsides. These would be useful later on when preparing skins or making other crafts.
January 10th dawned bright and clear. The air was crisp with winter freshness. We set out early to continue our quest for pigeons along familiar trails leading towards higher elevations where they often gathered in larger numbers during colder months like this one now approaching February.
