JP Myers 1973 Journal Transchaco highway Km 300 -> O W of Villa Hayes by road, Dept. Pres. Hayes, Paraguay Sept 5 cont'd detect, 2) a change in the amount of available mud flat, or 3) a result of migration pattern, with mostly the bird shunting through West Paraguay. N.A. Shorebirds seen on the trip (Aug 29 - Sept 5) Lesser Y legs (collected) Greater Y legs (collected) Solitary Sandpiper (collected) Golden Plover semi palin or Plover (collected) - rotted Buff breasted Sandpiper (collected) White rumped Sandpiper (collected) Pectoral Sandpiper (collected) Stilt Sandpiper Blue Wilson's Phalarope (collected) A striking thing about all my shorebirds was the similarity of the places in which I saw them. There were differences - see species accounts - but my overriding impression was that they were in the same places, or at least more so than I originally expected. This impression will probably change as my eye becomes more attuned. attuned. But nonetheless, at one site (??) I collected (on different day but within feet of the same place) (BBS, WRS, P, and saw three LYL, WP, and GP + SS. (this was at Juan Zalazar). If I return there, I would profit from remaining + observing rather than the hectic collection efforts which occupied my time so.
