Myers 1943 Journal 46 Road along Canal #2 headed SW from Gnal Lavalle, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina 13 Oct cont'd Km (from Rk II) too bowl other solid 19 4 1 21 1 0 23 6 2 25 3 0 24 4 1 29 4 0 Route 56 to Gnal Madariaga from Canal 2, Rk II S to Rte Canal 5 Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina 21 km S of the intersection of Rte 56 + Canal 2 (where we turned south) we stopped to survey a field of golden plover, with the intent of picking out Buff-breasted pipers. An hour's walk thus every 35 G.P. within 100 yds (radius) of car, and one Tryngites subcucullatus. The field was very closely cropped, having both Turner cattle unit. Grass is less than 3" high, and there are thistle sparsely distributed in clumps 3'-10' apart, with large open spaces of grass only as well. Terrain fairly flat; this is a marsh not too far away. Screamers + tero's are also there. We found two birds at 1120, wind still strong + from W, no clouds. This field is not atypical of much of the route, but at the same time it is more closely cropped than many of the area. At 1130 found 3 more buff-breasts in a flock of golden plovers on a field just beyond the last site, 18 km N of Gnal Madariaga. (According to a roadside sign) at the intersection of Rte 56 with a road leading to west to Monoalvo (13 km). The field on
